AHT Australia Day Ten - The Adventure Comes to an End

The weather was brilliant for our final ride together. We said farewell to Vacy Hall and our gracious hosts and headed just down the road to Boyd Yung Motorcycles where we were greeted by the Toowoomba Town Crier and local breast cancer survivors. Everyone enjoyed a nice breakfast (no sausages!!!) while Meredith did a radio interview and Megan talked with WIN TV.

The 100+ kms to Brisbane was a time for reflection for many of us. We fueled up one last time before stopping at Brett's Wharf on the Brisbane River for a very special luncheon for Dragons Abreast Australia. The food was amazing and Meredith and Michelle Hanton gave very moving speeches as the Missabittatitti dragon boat team from Brisbane paddled past the restaurant. We were able to say hello to some of our local Amazon Heart sisters, including Pete Cardell (AHE New Zealand 2006) and Jo Parry (AHT US 2004).

We had quite the welcome when we rode our final leg of this journey. We were greeted by family and friends, local dragon boaters, local media and the wonderful staff of Morgan and Wacker Harley-Davidson.

After time with family and friends, we all gathered for a few special moments together, and then it was time to return the keys and say goodbye to our new friends.

Thank you all for an absolutely incredible and truly awesome Amazon Heart Thunder Australia 2006

    Hey AH Sisters,
    What an awesome 10 days!!!
Have just been catching up with the photos and the comments... we really DID have fun. Kylie, my (DIL) asked me what I'll be doing next week? it will be very ordinary after the past 10 days and the 9 weeks before that!!! No... it will be a great time to reflect on the friendships, the struggles but more importantly the achievement of many dreams.
October 18 was a very big day for me... my first ride on a motorbike... white knuckle fear, exhilaration, blurred vision, singing, words lost in the rush of wind, giggling, consequences of this madness... wheeee. The fear vanished, I felt the confidence of Meredith's skills with the bike, she's a legend, we are all legends!!! I'll never forget it.
At home, a rose was a welcoming sight on the dining table (usually covered with half read newspapers) and 2 new duel flush toilets had been installed, a truly great surprise, as I'm not fussed about being around when plumber is working in the house!
So sisters, thanks for the privilege of sharing this adventure, your stories, achievements and your love,
    Keep well and take care,
    Love, Ruth
