Day Two - The Bikes
Today was fantastic! Perfect weather again - blue skies, toasty warm in the sun but with a cool ocean breeze to keep it from being too hot on the bikes.
Bobby delivered our brand new Harley-Davidson's to the hotel in the morning. It was incredibly exciting watching him roll the beautiful motorcycles one by one down the ramp of the truck. Even the women who brought their own bikes were there and incredibly excited to see the "unveiling".
The four of us on borrowed bikes took a couple of laps around the parking lot, then a short spin around Marina Del Rey to get the feel of our new best friends.
We then gathered as a full group, added Amazon Heart Thunder flags to the bikes and decorated the support truck. We then took off on our first official practice ride to Hermosa Beach. Wow!!! Everyone rode beautifully. It was a beautiful sight. It will definitely be an incredible week.
We all had a great lunch near the water at Hermosa Beach, a very short shopping run, a photo at the beach and then back on the bikes and to the hotel. The parking lot was not particularly skilled, and almost nailed Stacy with the boom arm as she entered the lot, and actually hit Ginny as she was leaving. Thankfully no injuries - to Ginny or her bike!
Tia got us VIP tickets to see the taping of the Jay Leno show tomorrow. Unfortunately there are only 6 tickets for 11 of us. We decided that our four first-timers should go - Ginny, Jenny, Yvette and Gail. We then drew names for the final two spots. And the winners were...Stacy and Gigi. Tia, Rhonda, Linnea, Maria and Megan will ride with the group to NBC studios and will then find some other way to entertain ourselves until the taping is done.
Once we got back to the hotel, half the group headed down to Venice Beach for a bit of beautiful beach scenery and some local "entertainment". Everyone met in the bar for happy hour and eventually dinner. Jim seemed more than happy to see everyone. It was a fun and mildly wild night with lots of laughing and dancing.
A couple of highlights - Jim brought fresh mint from home to make special Mojitos for us. And the restaurant across the street is being turned into a movie set. Over several hours we watched at least 15 huge semi trailers cram into the parking lot. Rhonda and Linnea tried to talk their way into some information but were asked to leave. It looks like a very big budget production. Hopefully we'll get the real scoop when the sun comes up.
Jenny-Looks like you gals are having a great time. The beach looks almost as awesome as you are! Have Fun! Saying Prayers to keep you safe. xoxo T
