Day Six - The Beach
What an incredible day! We were blessed with another beautiful, sunny day. The morning's ride was 40 miles on the freeway, but our group formation and lane changes are now perfect and it is a beautiful sight!
We stopped at Santa Maria Harley-Davidson for a rest stop and much needed shopping therapy. Then more freeway riding to Utopia Bakery in San Luis Obispo. Several local young breast cancer survivors - Hayley, Marj and Rita - came out to join us for lunch. A special thank you to Hayley (founder of Cancer Survivor Stuff) for arranging the gathering, for notifying the local media, and giving each of us one of her signature Buffs: http://www.cancersurvivorstuff.com/ .
Thanks to Hayley's efforts, the local news station stopped by for a quick interview and we made the 5 and 6:00 evening news. http://www.ksby.com/Global/story.asp?S=7089102
After another stretch along the freeway, we finally got to ride some wonderful sweeping curves as we cut accross Highway 41 to Morro Bay and up the Pacific Coast Highway 1 to Cambria. The weather is less predictable along the Central Coast, but we got lucky again - clear skies and not even a hint of fog!
We made friends with a number of the guests, and Sam and Suzie gave us a $100 donation - thank you!! We met another survivor out at the beach who was moved to tears by the group.
We enjoyed a cheese reception while watching the evening news, then walked across the street to enjoy a picnic dinner on the cliffs overlooking the ocean. It was cold, but beautiful as the sun went down and a billion stars appeared. Cambria is a magical place with incredible energy and it was a special night.

Mommy! Be strong and hang onto the handlebars with both hands! Your Harley Girl wants a BIG Hug when you come home.
