Day Nine - The Freeway

All week, people up and down the state have been telling us it was going to rain on Thursday so be prepared. Thankfully, we lucked out and it was a beautiful day to ride with no rain at all.

We rode over the Dumbarton Bridge to the East Bay, through some beautiful canyons. We spent a few minutes on 680, which was a little exciting as traffic was moving very fast and there were lots of huge trucks. We all made it safely and even arrived all together at our next stop - McGuire's Harley-Davidson in San Ramon. Because of the big bike rally - Street Vibrations - in Reno this weekend, the dealership was short staffed and didn't do a big lunch as in the past. But they gave us a wonderful welcome, discounted shopping, delicious coffee and a $500 donation - Thank you!!

We rode from there to Moraga where we had a lunch stop while Rhonda ran home to pick up her bike. It is good to have her out of the support truck and back on a motorcycle!!

It was a great afternoon of tight twisties and big sweeping curves. We finished the day with a bit of excitement - more freeways with crazy drivers, 6 lanes, a bridge toll plaza and me never quite knowing which lane to be in. Stacy ended up separated from the group in a bit of merging madness, but caught up with us when I led the group onto the wrong freeway and had to double back. If you'd been waiting for us at the hotel, you'd never know there had been a problem as we all arrived together and with smiles on our faces.

It was dinner at the hotel and drinks around the pool and a relatively early evening for most. Gail Kamei of Vallejo (Amazon Heart Thunder Australia 2006) stopped by to visit with the group for a while. Later in the evening, Beth Hartung from Napa (Amazon Heart Expedition Arizona 2007) arrived. Amazon sisters no matter what the original adventure.
