Day Ten - The Wine Country

The weather turned once again in our favor with beautiful, warm sun for most of the day. After our morning challenge - Rhonda's bike had a flat tire for some unknown reason - we had a very short ride to Vallejo Harley-Davidson. Honore, Sunny and the whole gang gave us a great reception, continental breakfast and more shopping!!!

We hit some traffic leaving Vallejo and then had a beautiful ride along the Silverado Trail through the Napa Vally and Sonoma Valley wine country. We rode through Napa, Calistoga, Healdsburg, Guerneville and Sebastapol past hundreds of wineries.

We stopped at Korbel Champagne for a late lunch at their fantastic deli. Unfortunately we couldn't do any tasting, but bought some bottles for the evening. The last stretch of riding was through some beautiful redwood forests.

Our hotel is in Rohnert Park in Sonoma County. It was a great last evening with bad pizza and lots of sharing.

The official name for our seal mascot is Blanca Moonstone. Blanca means white in Spanish, the elephant seals we stopped to see were at Piedras Blancas, and our favorite stop in Cambria is on Moonstone Beach. So, Blanca Moonstone it is!

Gail from Pennsylvania has had an incredibly adventurous week, with lots of firsts. She's tried for the first time - Indian food, avocado, artichoke, Mexican food - specifically tamales and burritos, and she hugged her first redwood tree.

"Next Year" I told myself. Right now I am suiting up for battle. The cancer that I thought I had beat 4 years ago has set up camp in my lung. "Focus on this now, so I can join the biker babes next time around".
My community has shown their support for me by raising money with the Dogs for Sandy Bandana Campaign. Local businesses put small displays on their counters accepting donations to be rewarded with a purple bandana.
Last week a group of women on Harleys stopped for a meal in Rohnert Park. They made contributions and rode off sporting purple bandanas. I like to believe that a piece of my spirit rode with them. Ride on, ladies, and thank you! They left behind a card...and...
