Day 4 - Recuperation

Firstly, I should explain what we’re recuperating from... many might assume it's the toll that cancer can take on your resources, the lives we lead outside of this adventure, or even our recent days in the saddle… but I think it was a combination of the massive portions of banoffie pie we were served at dinner last night combined with the new game of ‘napkin rounders’.
... how to ply napkin rounders (or baseball for our US sisters): take a large room containing 11 women and a big, square table.  Add a knotted napkin as a ball and a beer bottle as a bat and you’ve an instant game!  The aim is to hit the napkin without loosing hold of the bottle, then run round the table using your pals as safe bases whilst the bowler and back stop fall about laughing trying to find the napkin.
Many thanks to the team at Crown Catering www.crown-catering.co.uk who did a spectacular job in very cramped circumstances, and whose efforts we’re still enjoying this evening.
So onto Day 4 – thankfully there where many fewer miles to do today as it appears the sunshine has deserted us. A brief blast through some gusty grey weather got us to the Cotswolds Water Park where we had some peaceful time and a little bit of pampering www.spa6.co.uk.  The effects have been profound.  Few of us take such time out on ourselves, so the smiles started as soon as we hit the pool and then turned into expressions of relaxation and comfort.
It's been uncommonly quiet this evening.  Some have been taking the opportunity to catch up on sleep, others have been chilling: taking a walk by the canal, or the last chance for a natter befire returning to our normal lives.  It's a testament to these women that they have developed, in just four days, such open and easy relationships.  I'm sure these bonds of friendship will continue long after this mini-adventure.
Drafted on evening of Sunday 19th October, posted late due to tech issues.
