Sept 30 - Arrival in Los Angeles
Los Angeles turned on clear but cool weather for arrival day, as 32
women from South Africa, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada and the
United States converged for the start of our last Amazon Heart Thunder
ride.
Some of our group arrived a few days early to see the sights and get
over their jet lag, although most of the Australians arrived bleary eyed
that morning after a sleepless 14 - 24 hour commute.
That evening we came together for the first time for our welcome
briefing and orientation - a chance to put faces and voices to names we
had only seen on email, and to talk through our schedule for the day
ahead.
This is such an inspirational group of women, all of whom have overcome
not only breast cancer but for some the challenge of learning to ride,
fundraising and travelling overseas or to the US for the first time to
take part.
We finished early to allow our late overseas arrivals an early night as
our traditional Amazon Heart Christmas morning awaited tomorrow - when
the huge semi-trailer would turn up and unload all of our brand new
Harleys to ride!

Thinking of all you wonderful AH sistas as you start 'an adventure of a lifetime', or for some of you, 'yet another adventure of a lifetime'. Just looking at my picture of me heading up Big Sur 5 years ago.... Ride safe, and most importantly, enjoy and live for the day!

Wishing you all the most fantastic adventure!
Big hugs to all the amazons - especially Wendy, Lisa, Collette and Wanda - it must be fantastic to be back there for this last great ride. I can't believe it's been a year.
Hoping that Pat crossed the pond in one piece - I am sooooo jealous!!I cant wait to hear all about it when you get back.
Know that I am with you all in spirit and I'll be following your progress from the comfort of the poolside bar of my Turkish Hotel!!! Being somewhere lovely was the only way I could cope with not being there!! I am raising my Gin and Tonic and toasting this journey - hope you all have the time of your lifes.

Wow...it sounds like a really cool group of women. I'm glad to hear that the ride is fun and that everyone is riding safe. It was really great to see the Vikings beat the cheeseheads last night and it was really special with so many of the players wearing pink...in honor of someone they know that has been affected by breast cancer. Keep up the good work...all of you! Cheers, Jeff Jarnes (Jacqui's Old Man).
